Linton Farmers’ Market Coming Soon

Post1
In real estate, they say the three most important things to remember are location, location, and location. Now more than ever, ‘location’ is becoming the rule of thumb for more than just the homes we buy, but also the foods we eat. Eating local foods, buying from local producers, and stimulating the local economy are habits that support our health and our community.

Lucky for Linton, there are growing opportunities to do those things, like the Linton Farmers’ Market, which is gearing up to launch its second year at Linton’s Humphreys Park. Beginning May 31, the market will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving shoppers plenty of time to wander the booths, talk to the vendors, and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Saturday mornings are made for a Farmers’ Market experience. Here’s a snapshot of how one of the regulars likes to enjoy it…

“Several years ago, my husband bought me a bicycle for my birthday. It was a beautiful silvery blue, and it had a basket attached to the front. I loved it, but finding time to ride was a challenge. That bike was going to be my ticket to post-baby weight loss, sunshine, and fun. But life gets busy.

Last year, when I saw the signs for the Farmers’ Market go up at the park, I thought, ‘Hey, I could use my bike!’ Saturday mornings became a ritual. It was the perfect time to leave my still slumbering family at home, bust out my bike, and ride to the park. Not only did I find a little quiet time to myself, I got to fill up that basket with fresh produce every week.

I stayed and chatted over a cup of coffee with the vendors, learned about homemade soaps, spinning wool, and the difference between cole crops and cold crops. At first I took home the gorgeous tomatoes and beans, but soon I was branching out into eggplant and asparagus. What a treat! I look forward to airing up my tires and visiting the Linton Farmers’ Market again this year. I’ll be there on May 31st, and I hope you will, too!”
