One of the goals of the Farmers’ Market is to connect Linton residents with local food producers that offer a variety of fresh, healthy foods. To help make shopping at the market accessible to all members of our community, the Linton Farmers’ Market continues to accept SNAP, WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) benefits.
In an effort to make it even easier to purchase fresh, local foods, we will also continue to offer our Market Bucks program. Market Bucks is an incentive program which encourages qualified recipients to use their benefits at the Linton Farmers’ Market by doubling their food purchasing power!
Here’s how it works:
SNAP recipients should visit the Market Information booth where they will swipe their Hoosier Works EBT card in return for wooden tokens. For every $1 worth of SNAP funds withdrawn from your account, you will receive $2 worth of tokens (up to an additional $20 each visit). In other words, withdraw $20 in SNAP benefits and receive $40 worth of Market Bucks!
SNAP Market Bucks can purchase any of the following:
• fruits and vegetables
• breads and cereals
• meat and poultry
• dairy products
• jams and sauces
• maple syrup and honey products
• seeds and plants that grow food
• baked goods that are wrapped, labeled, and intended for home consumption
WIC recipients also need to visit the Market Information booth and present their benefit checks to receive matching Market Bucks vouchers (three $8 WIC vouchers). That means WIC recipients will receive an additional $24 for a total of $48 in benefits!
WIC checks and vouchers can purchase:
• fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables and edible herbs
The Market Bucks incentives program is supported entirely by local sponsorships and our own Market fund-raising activities.
